Legal Services Attorney
Part time position (25 hours per week) in Knox County. Position will be responsible for advising, representing, and/or assisting the elderly client with a variety of legal issues and advocating for the protection of their rights as mandated in multi-county area for the elderly. As necessary, the Attorney will visit individual clients in their home to facilitate the attorney-client relationship and the overall legal representation. In addition, the attorney must also possess the ability to provide effective educational presentations to senior groups, caregivers, service providers, civic organizations, etc.
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university and an accredited law school; extensive knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the care and treatment of the elderly population; thorough knowledge of the negation and mediation techniques and methods; strong organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Examples Of Work:
Provides legal advice, representation, and/or assistance provided by a licensed attorney possessing expertise in issues and laws related to and affecting older persons. The priority areas of law include: Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Disability planning, some estate planning, abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation.
Provides back-up support and assistance to the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.
