Job Summary
This position is located in the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). The Office of Administrative Hearings is an independent, impartial, administrative court that provides fair and efficient adjudication services for more than twenty-five (25) District of Columbia agencies, boards, and commissions and for certain private parties.

This position functions as a Judicial Law Clerk, responsible for supporting the daily adjudicatory operations of OAH in the public benefits jurisdiction.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assist administrative law judges in the adjudication of cases, participates in hearing and engages in case discussion with administrative law judges. Drafts various legal and non-legal documents including, but not limited to, memoranda, inquires, letters, decisions and orders. Communications with parties involved and manages case files. May conduct mediation as assigned and work on projects designed to promote the efficient adjudication of cases at OAH.

Qualifications and Education
Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to include but are not limited to experience working with courts or D.C. Government or federal agencies or demonstrated interest in litigation, public interest law; public benefits programs or the judiciary is preferred.

Work Conditions/Environment
Work is generally performed in an office or courtroom setting. The work is sedentary. However, there may be some walking; handling, carrying and occasional lifting and movement of light and heavy objects such as documents, exhibits, records, brief cases, books and binders or other equipment required.

Other Significant Facts
A law school degree from an accredited law school, or equivalent experience, pending admission to the bar highly preferred.
