B&D seeks candidates with up to three years of experience who are interested in a junior environmental litigation associate position in Washington, DC, Seattle, or one of our current office locations.

We are looking for smart, energetic, enthusiastic, and versatile candidates to join the largest environmental law firm in the country. Candidates should ideally have significant litigation or regulatory experience; they should at a minimum have a clear interest in environmental law, a strong academic background, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Join the firm that Vault has ranked for the last two years as the #1 law firm to work for in the area of Environmental Law.

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Up to 3 years of experience, ideally focusing on environmental, natural resources, and land use law;
  • Status as an active member in good standing of the bar in at least one state jurisdiction and, for a position in the Seattle office, ability to become licensed in Washington (although we are willing to consider recent graduates who have just taken the bar exam);
  • Strong analytical, research, writing and oral communication skills, organized, detailed, work well under deadline, creative thinker, multitasker, and have the ability to assume significant client responsibilities; and
  • Experience with, or demonstrated interest in, the major environmental law statutes, such as the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.
  • Experience with or interest in zoning and land use permitting and/or litigation is a plus.
