Steptoe’s DC office seeks an International Trade Counsel. Responsibilities include: advise and assist U.S. companies on international trade, customs, regulatory, trade investigations, and foreign investment issues in China. Advise foreign producers and exporters on trade remedy investigations (anti-dumping and countervailing duties) by the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. International Trade Commission. Advise clients on how to mitigate their risks associated with exporting goods to the U.S. Advise clients on local compliance issues in the U.S. and under the Chinese anti-corruption regime; conduct due diligence and draft risks assessments for enforcement issues; review due diligence for compliance with investment, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions; and prepare and present business development materials. Strong client relationship building and potential for expanding business development.
Requirements: JD from the U.S. and 5 years of experience as an attorney working with Chinese and U.S. trade negotiations and trade remedy investigations, anti-dumping/countervailing duties matters, investments and corporate transactions. Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S. and be DC barred. International travel required 40%.
