Our Intellectual Property team is looking to hire a patent attorney to support Verily’s Life Sciences programs. As a member of the Intellectual property team, you will counsel product teams and Verily leadership on all aspects of IP risks and strategies, with a particular emphasis on patent portfolio development, supervision of outside counsel on preparation and prosecution, and advising on IP aspects of commercial transactions.
Integrate with the Life Sciences teams and work closely with science, engineering and business clients to develop a patent strategy that will support product development and commercialization goals.
Supervise outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patents.
Advise clients on IP issues in complex deal structures.
Review, advise and assist in negotiating supply, development and tech transfer agreements with inbound and outbound licensing terms.
Respond promptly to legal requests from science, engineering and business clients and advise clients on 3rd party patent risk.
JD degree, or equivalent education.
Admitted to a State Bar.
Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
B.S., M.S., PhD or equivalent experience in life sciences, preferably in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Computational Biology.
3 years of related experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
Demonstrated experience in a law firm or in-house legal department providing legal support for life sciences transactions.
Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a high volume of requests.
Ability to be flexible and self-directed in a fast paced environment with limited direction.
Ability to balance competing priorities and manage several time-sensitive projects at once.
