The Firm's principal office is in Washington, D.C, with a second office in Sacramento, California. The Firm's practice includes energy and utility law, among others. The Firm has attained a prominent and highly regarded position in these practice areas by developing innovative approaches and achieving precedent-setting results for its clients.

DWGP seeks a highly motivated attorney with significant Energy Project Development experience to join the team. This full-time position is a great opportunity to join a well-established law firm, work in an exciting, fast-paced environment on cutting-edge legal issues, and work for a client base whose focus is providing consumers with reliable energy at affordable prices. Location is not limited to Washington, DC or Sacramento, CA; for the right candidate, the Firm will consider a “hybrid” of working remotely, including at one or both of the Firm’s locations. The position requires the ability and willingness to travel on behalf of the Firm and its clients. DWGP will offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:
Provide legal support for energy project development, particularly renewable energy projects, for public power, cooperative and tribal communities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • J.D. degree and membership in at least one US state bar.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house.

Relevant Experience includes:
  • Representation of public power, cooperative, and/or tribal utilities
  • Renewable project development
  • Project financing, including tax incentives, grants, and Federal and commercial financing resources
  • Drafting and negotiation of generator interconnection processes and agreements
  • Negotiation of energy project contracts
  • Negotiation of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts
  • Negotiation of public-private contracts
  • Negotiation of power purchase agreements (PPAs)
  • Advising on transmission pricing and planning
  • Corporate Law, especially structuring and managing special purpose vehicles for renewable projects
