The Director of Legal Services â€“ Regulatory serves as a subject matter expert on fraud and abuse, antitrust, privacy, medical staff governance and other related health care matters while assisting the CMH General Counsel on litigation management, provider alignment and mergers and acquisitions within the organization.
Serves as a content matter expert on fraud and abuse, antitrust, privacy, medical staff governance and other related matters within the organization.
Assists the CMH General Counsel on litigation management, provider alignment, mergers and acquisitions and other strategy based initiatives.
Coordinates due diligence on transactions with other colleagues and outside counsel, as assigned.
Works cross functionally with the Director of Legal Services â€“ Contracting, Director of Risk Management and Chief Compliance Officer on federal and state regulatory analysis.
Follows up consistently on open or overdue requests for legal services.
Redlines all draft agreements in accordance with legal/regulatory requirements and in accordance with the best interests of CMH.
Meets with CMH end-users & customers to determine their objectives relating to provider alignment and other strategic priorities.
Maintains current competencies in areas of healthcare or related law and regulatory matters as assigned.
Engages in continuing legal education opportunities specific to healthcare.
Collaborates with Compliance to advise stakeholders on regulatory compliance and best practices.
Reviews contract templates for repeat transactions for regulatory compliance and best practices.
Develops an ongoing target list of cost reduction, process improvement, risk reduction, or regulatory compliance opportunities.

Education and experience:
Degree: Juris Doctorate
Minimum Experience: 7 years of legal experience with at least 5 years of healthcare regulatory experience.

Advanced computer knowledge Excel, Word, & MS Outlook; intermediate knowledge in Access environment.
Ability to prioritize workload independently and supervise the legal services staff
