Position Description
As a member of Deutsche Bank’s Legal Department in Jacksonville, FL, you would be responsible for providing general legal support to the Bank’s derivatives trading businesses. Your responsibilities as senior counsel will include providing legal advice to the business on a wide range of issues; drafting, reviewing and negotiating trading documentation; and managing legal and regulatory risk. Your role will involve liaising directly with the front office, other internal groups, as well as the Bank’s diverse client base. Other responsibilities will include assessing global regulatory changes affecting the trading of derivatives transactions and working with, and advising, the relevant stakeholders within the Bank to implement required changes to documentation, policies or procedures.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice to the Bank’s Fixed Income and Currencies business, with a focus on FX franchise trading, FX e-Commerce and FX prime brokerage businesses
  • Review, draft and negotiate trading documentation
  • Manage pipeline and delivery of legal services in coordination with other members of the legal team
  • Liaise with other internal departments (i.e., credit, risk, compliance, operations, treasury, tax, etc.) as necessary
  • Assist with developing and updating standard forms and templates
  • Advise and assist in the development and structuring of new business initiatives
  • Advise and assist with trading infrastructure activities, including trading platforms, SEFs, and e-FX platforms
  • Review netting and collateral enforceability opinions
  • Participate in industry forums and external and internal working groups
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior members of the legal department

Experience/ Exposure:
  • Significant experience with the legal and regulatory aspects of derivatives
  • Relevant experience working at a major law firm or as in-house counsel to a financial institution, investment bank or asset management firm
  • Transactional expertise with various types of trading agreements, including ISDA master agreements, master confirmation agreements, FX prime brokerage agreements, FX e-Commerce documentation, futures agreements, repurchase agreements or securities lending agreements
  • Strong substantive knowledge of the current U.S. and/or E.U. regulatory framework impacting derivatives

Education/ Qualifications:
  • Law degree
  • Qualified as an attorney in NY, FL or other US jurisdiction
  • Ability to identify and manage legal and reputational risk
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
