Summary Working independently, Counsel will provide legal guidance to the organization’s international and domestic business operations, addressing a wide range of commercial, litigation and corporate matters. Principal outcomes include ensuring the legality of commercial transactions, advising GameStop and affiliates on legal rights and duties, including the duties and responsibilities of the organization’s business leaders. Legal Counsel will interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either; most activities may be completed without advanced approval.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities*
Manage ongoing litigation, including real estate, employment law and commercial matters.
Assist with the negotiation and evaluation of a wide variety of commercial contracts, including affiliation agreements, service contracts, software/IT agreements, and marketing/merchandising contracts with vendors, acquisition proceedings, consulting agreements and internal/external communications.
Support the development of organizational policies, procedures and business strategies.
Effectively leverage outside law firm attorneys and manage relationships with external legal affiliates.
Provide supplementary legal support for Real Estate ventures including contract negotiations and lease documentation.
Manage additional legal projects as needed.
Cultivating Networks – Initiating and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders inside and outside the organization (e.g., customers, peers, cross-functional partners, external vendors and alliance partners) to advance business goals.

Basic and Preferred Qualifications (Education and/or Experience)
Doctorate of Jurisprudence from an accredited program required
At least 3 years of legal experience with in-house and/or large law firm required; experience in a retail environment preferred

Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English.
Proficient knowledge of litigation, employment law, international law and /or intellectual property law

Proficient presentation skills to effectively present information to an audience of varying responsibility within the company.
Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities.
