This counsel position is in the Mortgage Banking Section which is responsible for providing legal support to Wells Fargo's consumer real estate lending operations.
Responsibilities include providing legal advice to the company, conducting legal research projects, and acting as an advisor to business personnel in interpreting laws and regulations pertaining to the activities of mortgage loan originators. Areas of focus may include Privacy, Telemarketing, Fair Credit Reporting Act and/or UDAAP.
2+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
Active State Bar membership
Ability to research law and regulations and develop advice with respect to complex legal issues using public as well as company websites and databases
Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience preparing legal memoranda for senior attorneys and business leaders
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters
Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration
Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team
Other Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to one or more of the following: Privacy, Telemarketing, Fair Credit Reporting Act and/or UDAAP.
Experience in the financial services industry, especially in banking and mortgage loan origination.
