Cummings & Lockwood is currently seeking an experienced Tax Attorney with some level of portable business for its Stamford, Connecticut office. The candidate will be a member of the Corporate & Finance Group and provide support to the firm’s Private Clients Group, as well as its Family Office & Closely Held Business Group.
Strong academic credentials with a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and an active member in good standing in the Connecticut and/or New York bars.
Six years or more of professional experience advising affluent individuals and families, their trusts, closely held businesses, investment entities and foundations and/or other public or private enterprises and charitable organizations with respect to a broad range of tax planning matters and transactions.
Strong experience advising on tax structuring for mergers, acquisitions and other business combinations and divestitures, as well as corporate taxation at the federal, state and local levels
Strong experience with private client tax services, including personal income taxation, trust taxation, estate and gift taxation, charitable taxation, flow through entities and partnership taxation.
Strong analytical skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to research, interpret and articulate complex tax law.
Superior client service skills with the ability to develop, maintain and grow outstanding client relationships.
