About The Role iAnthus is seeking a talented attorney to join its Legal team as Corporate Counsel. This is a great opportunity for an attorney who seeks significant responsibilities across a wide variety of legal matters, enjoys working closely and often cross-functionally with a broad spectrum of internal clients, and wants to play a meaningful role in building strong and scalable legal and compliance functions for a dynamic company. This is a true "generalist" role that involves significant commercial work, but also (to varying degrees) compliance, employee, transactional and other matters.
What you will accomplish:
Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial contracts of varying complexity.
Support growth initiatives relating to new products and brands.
Advise on regulatory and compliance matters.
Assist in the development of corporate policies, procedures and best practices.
Provide legal and strategic business advice and support to our teams, including human resources, marketing, inventory and customer support to help guide business initiatives
Participate in the design, implementation and enforcement of company policies and processes to ensure legal compliance with internal policies as well as applicable laws and regulations affecting the company
Conduct regulatory review and analysis and support the company’s government affairs initiatives
Provide legal counsel on labor and employment-related matters for the Company and its affiliates, which may include, but is not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers' compensation, unemployment, and other state agency claims, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements, and policy-related issues, FMLA matters, health, welfare and benefit plans, employment-related litigation, grievances, and arbitrations.
Experience and Qualifications:
Excellent academic credentials.
3-5+ years of relevant experience with a top law firm or in-house legal department.
Significant exposure to sophisticated commercial, corporate or transactional matters.
Experience advising regulated consumer products and/or e-commerce companies is a plus.
Securities law experience a plus
Labor/Employment experience a plus, including experience with a union workforce
Member in good standing of the NY or other state bar.
