Corporate Counsel - FDA & FTC

Our Opportunity:
Fast-paced e-commerce company is seeking an FDA and FTC Counsel to join its growing legal team. The successful candidate will have significant experience with FDA and FTC in connection with the pet, food, beverage, drug, and dietary supplement areas. This position will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Dania Beach, FL and reports to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, IP/Privacy.

What you'll do:
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of the FDA, USDA, EPA, FSIS, AAFCO, US Customs and other related laws and regulations
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of the FTC, state and federal marketing and deceptive trade practice laws, Prop 65, CPSC and other related laws and regulations
  • Provide counsel to the Proprietary Brand, Marketing and Merchandising Teams on ingredient, product and packaging claims and the training of these teams
  • Review website, print, email, TV, radio and other advertising vehicles for compliance with FTC and related State consumer advertising regulations
  • Assist on safety compliance strategies, including drafting standard operating procedures, implementing GMPs, GRAS notifications, manage product recalls and reportable food registry events, and supply chain management and related contracts
  • Assist with the development and implementation of relevant compliance with management systems and audit programs
  • Draft and negotiate contracts including manufacturing, agency, sponsorship and a willingness to cover a wide variety of other contracts as needed, i.e., supply chain, merchandising, etc.
  • Assist with any governmental actions and other related litigations
  • A team player who is willing to take on a variety of tasks as needed

What you'll need:
  • JD from an accredited school with exceptional academic credentials
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a top law firm or in-house counsel position with subject-matter expertise in data privacy and security compliance
  • Member in good standing with the Florida Bar or eligible to attain Florida house counsel exemption.
  • Science background a plus
  • Good business judgment and sound-decision making in balancing risk, opportunity, and business objective
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with and influencing client groups
  • Highly organized and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Some travel may be required
