Description:
We're looking for a passionate legal professional to be a strategic advisor on various matters across the organization. You are a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise. The preferred candidate will be experienced at reviewing, editing, and negotiating complex service contracts. You will be a great communicator, empathetic, positive, collaborative, and able to work closely with our sales teams, senior management, clients, and other key stakeholders.

While primarily focusing on U.S. business needs, we are a US-based corporation that operates internationally, so you will also find many opportunities to support our EMEA teams and clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate, draft, review and close a broad range of commercial agreements, including technology partnership agreements, software license agreements, professional services agreements, and vendor contracts
  • Counsel business partners on domestic and international data privacy laws (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), regulations, and industry best practices
  • Advise on a range of corporate matters, including compliance with relevant international, federal and state laws and subsidiary administration and maintaining appropriate commercial risk
  • Assist with intellectual property matters and global patent filings
  • Managing and partnering with outside counsel
  • Analyze and provide guidance on evolving laws, rules, regulations, and trends impacting the business including finance, tax, governance, data protection, etc.

Work Experience:
  • Excellent judgment and communication skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Independent and strategic thought combined with excellent team player qualities (no job is too small or too large) and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities
  • Resilience, resourcefulness, and the ability to make recommendations and decisions with imperfect facts
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and the ability to incorporate those principles into the product development process
  • Experience with, and enthusiasm for, negotiating commercial agreements, with an ability to keep complex legal negotiations on-track and on time
  • Ability to create, execute and own detailed project plans
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical advice to internal stakeholders
  • Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting

Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law and admission to the California bar
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise software/technology companies as in-house counsel
  • Strong technology interest and aptitude
