The Forward Air team is looking for a talented attorney to serve as a Commercial Contracts Attorney in Atlanta, GA. This person will interact with management and key business clients while providing direct support to sales and procurement personnel, as well as defining legal strategies. The ability to assess legal risks while applying good legal and business judgment will be important. This person will often interact with internal and external business clients while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, and concise yet thorough manner. Forward Air expects the person in this position to have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing service and business landscape.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transportation and logistics services agreements, professional services agreements/statements of work, and partner agreements for motor carriers, property brokers, freight forwarders, and similar transportation providers
  • Draft, review, and negotiate business vendor agreements of all varieties
  • Work with sales, accounting, finance, technology, and client service teams to resolve contractual issues
  • Learn and grow with our contract management system, and help us develop new technology solutions, contract templates, and guidelines for partner programs
  • Participate in compliance initiatives including training internal clients on legal and contracting policies and issues, including privacy and data protection
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Degree from a top law school with excellent academic credentials and valid license to practice law in any U.S. state
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in commercial and contract law
  • Leading law firm or in-house experience; in-house commercial contracting experience dealing with transportation agreements and supporting a wide-ranging internal customer base is a plus
  • Experience with transportation/logistics services and/or insurance industry a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and solid analytical abilities demonstrated through your work experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize work, and adjust to frequent workload fluctuations
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving client-friendly solutions while managing company risk
  • Adept at anticipating the needs of a fast-paced sales team and working collaboratively to solve problems
