An exciting and rewarding career opportunity within the Single-Family Office Industry has arisen for a relatively new Single-Family Office (“SFO”) located in Tampa, Florida. The SFO is currently in the process of formalizing its service delivery model and is looking to hire an attorney licensed to practice law in Florida to serve as the SFO’s In-House Legal Counsel. This position will report directly to the head of the SFO, and will be the first point of contact with regards to legal matters within the SFO.
Legal support and coordination of any projects the SFO is involved in or requires you to be involved in.
Managing outside counsel, review of documentation and assistance with any legal issues.
Drafting and reviewing of legal documentation, including, but not limited to, corporate and commercial transaction documents, real estate transaction documents, and financial transaction documents; including, but not limited to:
Formation of ownership structures, such as partnerships and LLCs
Entity and Asset (e.g., Real Estate) Acquisitions
Real Estate Development and Construction Projects
Real Estate Leasing and Property Sales
Ongoing Management and Operation of Real Estate Assets
Liaise with other parties within the SFO Team, as well as outside legal, tax, and wealth advisory group members.
Litigation Oversight involving SFO Matters, as well as family matters.
Advise on legal compliance, including fiduciary related matters involving trusts in which family members serve as Trustee, and corporate governance related matters as to both for-profit and non-profit related entities.
Covering any ad hoc tasks that may require your assistance from time to time.
Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Accounting.
Master’s Degree in Accountancy or Business Taxation preferred but not required
Juris Doctorate from an accredited Law School
Two to three years of related legal experience practicing within a law firm, public accounting firm, or family office firm serving high net worth individuals and/or family office clients .
Strong real estate, corporate and commercial transactional knowledge, including promissory notes, guarantees, credit facilities, and security agreements.
Working knowledge of individual/corporate/partnership income tax.
Working knowledge of estate & gift tax.
Working knowledge of Trust/fiduciary law.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated hands-on approach as well as the ability to collaborate with external lawyers, accounting firms and consultants.
Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of all SFO initiatives.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
