Chief Compliance Counsel / Officer - Veradigm

The purpose of this role is to ensure that Veradigm adheres to its compliance obligations, specifically anti-kickback and meaningful use. This key, senior-level role is hands-on, i.e. drafting, contract review, technical reviews and training.

Compliance Officer Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary liaison to Veradigm executive leadership team. Collaborate with them on compliance program enhancements and key functional activities.
  • Actively engage with business partners to understand and provide proactive compliance guidance on proposed strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Manage 3-4 direct reports who are also focused on strategic Veradigm compliance objectives
  • Provide strategic direction related to compliance risks, trend analysis and changing governmental requirements and provides guidance for compliant business activities to support business functions .
  • Strategically partner with Legal, Regulatory, Finance, Audit, HR and other areas of leadership.
  • Understand global legal requirements and best practices, and keeps abreast of new developments.• • • Excellent written communication skills needed to draft and revise contracts and policies.
  • Proactive work style, keeping ahead of the curve in auditing of processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses before they become problems.
  • Critical thinking and attention to detail needed to evaluate business activities (e.g. policies, investments, client partnerships) and assess compliance risk
  • Teaching skills to educate and train employees on all necessary regulations and industry practices.
  • Willingness to listen to and address employee concerns and questions on legal compliance.
  • Commitment to continued learning, remaining well-informed regarding internal standards and business goals.

Compliance Officer Requirements and Qualifications

Academic and Professional Qualifications:
JD degree and law license in at least one state, with willingness to obtain Illinois license

  • Minimum 10 years’ legal experience as a compliance professional and 3 years people management experience
  • Substantial payer and life sciences background - compliance focus within pharma or health insurance industries
  • Strong working knowledge of legal requirements and controls within the payer and life sciences industry
  • Hands-on experience in cutting-edge work in an area that's still being legally defined
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; strong business acumen
  • Excellent collaborative teamwork skills; attention to detail and strategic thinking style
  • Experience working with senior leadership
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing a company compliance plan
  • Ability to successfully manage large projects

Travel Requirements:
25% travel / as needed

Working Arrangements:
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards
  • This role will reside in San Francisco (preferred), Chicago, Raleigh, Atlanta, Pittsburgh or Boston. This key leader must live in one of these cities or be willing to relocate.
