Join Parexel's dynamic Legal and Risk Management Team as an Attorney, Commercial Contracts. We are currently seeking a resourceful, independent, self-starter who is looking to bring his/her initiative and enthusiasm to our collegial team of experienced Attorneys in Parexel's Second U.S. Headquarters in Durham, NC

The Attorney, Commercial Contracts is primarily responsible and accountable for drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts, with a particular emphasis on revenue-generating contracts with our customers, under the guidance and direction of senior members of the Legal & Risk Management department.

In addition to the drafting and negotiation of customer-facing commercial contracts, the Attorney, Commercial Contracts will also draft, negotiate and close a variety of vendor contracts and will provide legal support to the Company’s operations and marketing departments.

The successful candidate will have frequent interactions with internal stakeholders across multiple business units and functional groups and will be responsible for ensuring that all contracting processes are followed, including obtaining and documenting any approvals required in connection with each contract.

The Attorney, Commercial Contracts is responsible for facilitating the resolution of business and legal issues and formulating recommendations using analysis, creativity and the development of new approaches to enable contract execution while safeguarding the Company and creating a positive customer experience all in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

The Attorney, Commercial Contracts will participate in and contribute to the development and on-going review of relevant processes, guidelines and procedures relating to the Company’s commercial contracting activities. The work requires cross-functional collaboration within the Company, strong business acumen, and a positive “can-do” attitude.

This is a client-facing position. It is expected that the Attorney, Commercial Contracts will establish productive relationships with internal and external clients and business partners and foster a client-focused approach with respect to the performance of all Legal & Risk Management responsibilities.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have contract management expertise, excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills, substantive experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts while maintaining strong, vibrant internal and external client relationships.
Healthcare and/or technology licensing/information technology services experience preferred, but not necessary for the exceptional candidate.

Skills and Past Experience:
  • Experience with Master Service Agreements is desirable
  • Superb legal drafting skills, with affinity for using language to achieve compromise
  • Ability to analyze complex business and legal issues/risks in order to advance practical solutions

Education:
  • J.D., LL.B or foreign equivalent required
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 – 3 years mid to large law firm experience working on complex commercial transactions and/or 2 – 3 years in-house experience negotiating commercial contracts for a global corporation (preference for healthcare or technology)
