Associate Principal Counsel - Operations & Regulatory Compliance

The Walt Disney World Resort Legal Department is seeking qualified candidates for an Associate Principal Counsel position to provide legal advice and support to various departments and business units of the Walt Disney World Resort, including resort and theme park operations, and government affairs, primarily with respect to operations and regulatory compliance. This position reports to the Assistant Chief Counsel for the Walt Disney World Legal Department’s Operations, Regulatory Compliance and Government Affairs group.

  • Provide legal support for Walt Disney World Resort operations, including:
  • Providing advice on regulatory compliance, government affairs and risk management related matters
  • Collaborating with clients and legal department colleagues on creative solutions to complex operational challenges
  • Staying informed of and advising clients on changes in the law relating to operations and regulatory compliance
  • Independently drafting and negotiating agreements and providing general legal advice
  • Managing outside counsel

Basic Qualifications:
  • An attorney with a minimum of 5 years of litigation and/or regulatory experience
  • Experience advising on regulatory compliance matters
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills are required
  • Experience with OSHA, ATF, ABT and ADA compliance a plus
  • Ability to work independently, with some supervision, on complex matters
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk and to exercise sound legal judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven client relationship skills
  • Must be team-oriented and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a solution oriented approach to legal issues
  • Self-motivated, with outstanding interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate complex concepts and issues effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to multi-task and work quickly and collaboratively under tight deadlines
  • Highly organized with ability to effectively manage outside counsel

Required Education:
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of Florida or willingness to become admitted following hire
