Associate General Counsel

Position Summary:
We are seeking an outstanding attorney to join our legal team. This person will serve as a corporate generalist with primary responsibility for the business legal needs of Conair.

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts including non-disclosure licensing, supply, distribution, equipment purchase and lease, manufacturing, consulting, sponsorship and customer agreements.
  • There is also a focus on contracts related to advertising, promotions and digital media.
  • Additional work related to mergers and acquisitions; corporate housekeeping; legal research; and other general corporate, intellectual property, real estate and commercial matters.
  • Provide counsel on contracts as noted above.
  • Drive various continuous improvements in contracting, including improving processes, templates, trainings and knowledge management materials.
  • Assist in special projects in the legal team as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
  • JD degree and BA/BS degree; top tier undergraduate and law schools.
  • 6+ years of legal employment working in a corporate legal department or a top-tier law firm, with experience advising on corporate and commercial matters, including drafting and negotiating agreements and direct interaction with clients
  • Broad experience in contract drafting and negotiation, including in the areas of procurement, services, consulting, logistics, sales, ecommerce, SaaS Agreements and technology agreements and transactions.
  • Member of the Connecticut State Bar or willing to become Connecticut Authorized In-House Counsel.
  • Broad range of relevant legal experience, including the ability to identify, prioritize and resolve critical legal issues in real time.
  • Strong technology skills, with experience and a strong interest in utilizing technology to improve ways of working.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, particularly the ability to transform complex information into clear, concise and actionable communications for business partners.
  • Willingness to learn and work on a broad variety of areas.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team as required, including as part of cross-functional and cross-border teams.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to multi-task, handle unanticipated situations effectively and work well under pressure with tight deadlines to ensure timely and appropriate response to issues raised.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Outstanding execution and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to identify and use the most efficient and effective legal resources to complete the work in a timely and cost-effective manner

Beneficial Qualifications:
  • Experience in the Personal Care, Health Care, Beauty or Consumer Goods industry is a plus.

  • Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time
