Associate General Counsel, Contract Monitoring & Privacy

We are seeking an Associate General Counsel, to support’s General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer and legal team through management of a portfolio focused on contract monitoring and privacy/ information security matters. The Associate General Counsel will be joining the team as we continue to rapidly expand and scale our business. This hire will advise and partner with teams across the organization, closely monitoring and providing guidance to mortgage operations, corporate functions, and affiliated businesses alike.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Review and monitor a wide range of contracts including vendor agreements, leases, advertising and marketing agreements, software agreements, etc.
  • Lead vendor management process across the organization
  • Collaborate with and advise business units directly on contractual matters, providing guidance and practical solutions
  • Oversee the company’s privacy/information security programs to ensure obligations to customers and internal employees are met
  • Develop and maintain privacy subject matter expertise, monitoring trends in data protection/privacy laws and advising on impacts to the business
  • Support with internal investigations, conducting employee interviews and outlining a factual backdrop
  • Assist the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer with special projects

About You:
  • 5-10 years of experience working in a legal, corporate or governmental environment interfacing with senior leaders, prior in-house experience preferred
  • JD from an accredited law school and are licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey or California
  • Proven experience performing legal research
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent project management and task tracking skills
  • Proficient with MS Office and Google applications
  • Possess unyielding integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to think outside of the box in difficult situations

Bonus points for:
  • Experience in fintech or other exciting start-up environments
  • Prior mortgage industry experience
