Associate General Counsel - Commercial Real Estate Attorney

Parker’s, one of the nation’s leading convenience store chains, is seeking an experienced commercial real estate attorney to support the company’s ambitious growth plans. This position will lead the commercial real estate section within the legal department. The ideal candidate will have experience managing all stages of commercial real estate transactions, including negotiating and closing commercial real estate leasing, purchasing, and related corporate transactions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Draft commercial purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, construction contracts, and other commercial real estate agreements.
  • Negotiate favorable terms on behalf of the company.
  • Review purchase and sale agreements, perform due diligence, monitor contingencies, coordinate transactions, and work with team to obtain permits and close commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Review title commitments, recorded documents, environmental reports, and surveys, and generate title and survey objections.
  • Draft closing, conveyancing, and corporate resolution documents in connection with transactions.
  • Track transaction tasks, parties, and key dates, and communicate progress to team as issues and tasks are resolved.
  • Follow up on the typical host of post-closing matters.
  • Coordinate recordation of deeds, deeds of trust/mortgages, amendments, subdivision maps, lot line adjustments, easements, covenants, and similar documents.
  • Conduct basic legal and business research.
  • Assist General Counsel on related matters.
  • Related responsibilities as internal client needs dictate.
  • Communicate regularly with our company officers to achieve established goals for each property under development.

  • Completion of law school with a Juris Doctor degree and admission to the bar and in good standing in the State of Georgia; admission to the bar and in good standing in the State of South Carolina a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience as a transaction attorney focused on real estate with deep commercial contracting expertise.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and collaboration with colleagues and ability to develop business solutions with effective presentation of business risks and anticipated outcomes along with providing pragmatic advice.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent drafting, proof-reading, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, independent judgment, a desire to learn, and an ability to take on and prioritize a wide variety of complex matters.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skill and collegial approach to all matters.
  • Can-do attitude and able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage the expectations of internal clients.
