Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP seeks an associate with 2-3 years of relevant experience to join the Executive Compensation & Benefits Practice Section with the option to work in the Firm’s Austin or Washington, DC office. Associate will work closely with attorneys in the practice section locally and firmwide, as well as interact with clients on a wide variety of highly sophisticated transactions. Must have the ability to both work in teams and manage certain aspects of transactions independently. Ideal candidate will have experience working with public and private employers, including start-up companies, on all aspects of the executive compensation and benefits practice, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions (including Section 280G analysis), financings, initial public offerings, executive terminations and hires, stock compensation plans and award agreements, nonqualified deferred compensation (Section 409A), general ERISA and group benefit plans, and public company reporting and disclosure obligations.
Bachelor’s degree and JD from an ABA-accredited US law school required. Excellent academic background as well as exceptional research and writing skills highly valued. Ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of ethics and conduct codes. Seeking an associate with the demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that provides the highest level of client service. The candidate should be a member, or eligible to become a member, of the Texas Bar if located in Austin or the District of Columbia Bar if located in Washington, DC.
