About the job
Brainbase is seeking a talented, forward-thinking tech savvy attorney with 3-4 years of experience in filing, monitoring and renewing Trademarks with the USPTO. This attorney will play an important role in building the foundation of our IP management software platform.
What you’ll do:
- Define and help build automated processes for filing and monitoring Trademarks with USPTO
- Be the domain expert on all USPTO Trademark related operations
- Review product design through all stages of development – from initial brainstorming sessions through launch – to ensure they meet applicable federal statutory and regulatory requirements
- Review product copy, email campaigns, SEO/SEM copy, training materials, and sales collateral pieces
- Research national and international IP laws and ensure products are updated when affected by statutory changes
- Assess whether product descriptions, customer data intake forms, and disclaimers are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant laws; advise teams on required copy and design changes
- Help to ensure that product initiatives undergo privacy impact assessments as part of the company’s privacy by design process; identify and analyze privacy risks
- Review contracts to respond to product development questions from various teams when necessary
- Advise Fulfillment teams on customer filing issues; draft and update document templates
- Help to manage company response to escalated customer complaints; instruct Customer Care and Fulfillment teams on proper courses of action
Qualifications:- JD and licensed to practice law in California (or ability to qualify as Registered In-House Counsel)
- 3-4 years of IP experience practicing with a law firm and/or in-house legal department, with a focus on Trademark matters
- Prior experience advising product teams
- Knowledge of data privacy and consumer protection laws is a plus
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers
- Ability to self-start, meet deadlines, prioritize, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work well with change in a fast-paced environment
