Kurt J. Lesker Company is seeking to fill the role of Assistant General Counsel for our global headquarters located in Pittsburgh. This position requires someone who desires to be embedded into the organization and take on the challenges of working with a global organization.

Kurt J. Lesker Company, founded in 1954, is a dynamic, rapidly growing manufacturer and distributor of thin film deposition systems and components for the vacuum technology market. With locations across North America, Europe, and Asia, we are a global supplier to industries, universities, and government laboratories. Our products and technologies are used for various research and production applications including: semiconductor manufacturing, automotive coatings, night vision goggles, and solar cells.

Responsibilities:
As Assistant General Counsel, this person will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to our Sales team and business Divisions throughout the global organization. This person will provide advice and counsel with respect to contractual, corporate, and various compliance matters, including but not limited to reviewing sales and purchasing contracts, advising the company on legal matters relating to its business activities, undertaking due diligence for potential acquisition opportunities, and overseeing the company’s export compliance program. The Assistant General Counsel must maintain a current in-depth knowledge with respect to various legal matters and will act as a consultant and advisor to the President and management of the company. The Assistant General Counsel will manage relationships and matters with outside legal counsel and will ensure that legal affairs of the company are attended to in an effective and efficient manner.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Licensed Attorney
  • 5 or more years of experience in corporate and transactional law
  • Extensive experience with business contracts and transactions
  • The ability to provide rapid, thorough but concise, straightforward responses to various legal-related inquiries from multiple functions within the company
  • Ability to travel globally on occasion
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permeant Resident (guidelines under ITAR)

Strongly Preferred
  • An understanding of, and experience with, the US Export Administration Regulations and ITAR
  • Mergers and acquisitions experience

Preferred:
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property law
  • Licensed Attorney in the Commonwealth of PA
  • Extensive experience working with non-lawyers on contract formation and administration
