In this role, you will be partnering with cross functionally with the diverse Pill Club pharmacies, affiliated medical groups, and services organizations teams supporting their day to day operational and compliance needs. As needs change and evolve, you will also support the General Counsel and other Pill Club executives with a variety of legal needs including but not limited to, contracting, regulatory compliance and privacy. In addition, you will oversee a team that provides specific healthcare operations support functions. As a member of a small team, you will have significant opportunities for growth and professional development. This position reports directly to the General Counsel.

You will:
  • Serve as lead counsel on legal and regulatory matters providing business-focused advice to business units including Operations, Product, Growth, Design, Marketing, Policy, and Communications
  • Assist in developing legal strategy aligned with healthcare business initiatives and advise leadership on legal considerations around strategic business decisions
  • Manage a team of healthcare operations support professionals
  • Oversee licensure and credentialing for pharmacies and medical groups
  • Support in on-site and document audits
  • Support the Compliance team with the tactical build-out and implementation of the company compliance program
  • Help guide the company’s insurance and pharmacy compliance
  • Negotiate contracts with insurance plans, pharmacy benefits managers and pharmacy services administration organizations

You have:
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school
  • Been admitted to and be in good standing with either the California or Texas bar (or eligible for admission on motion or as in-house counsel)
  • At least 10 years of legal experience
  • Prior in-house experience legal experience or law firm experience advising health care or pharmacy entities
  • Experience with healthcare and insurance regulations in multiple states
  • Working knowledge of the ACA, HI-TECH, HIPAA, Stark law at federal and state level
  • Experience drafting and reviewing vendor contracts
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt and thrive in an environment that is constantly changing with an ability to prioritize and re-prioritize based upon the needs of the business
  • The ability to make all levels of the company comfortable coming to you for advice
  • Self-starter mentality with high personal accountability while working well in a team environment
  • Organizational skills; you are process driven and detail oriented
