The Ford County Attorney’s Office has an immediate opening for a full-time assistant county attorney. This position will be responsible for managing a general criminal caseload that may consist of felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic cases through all stages of prosecution. Depending on the successful applicant’s interests and the needs of the office, the position may also involve handling children in need of care, care and treatment, or juvenile cases. Located in Dodge City, the Ford County Attorney’s Office is a busy office that handles over 800 criminal cases and 2,500 traffic cases per year. The office consists of two full-time assistant county attorneys and two part-time assistant county attorneys, plus support staff.
The minimum salary for this position is $57,000 per year. Additional compensation may be available for well-qualified candidates. Other fringe benefits may also be offered through the county.
The successful candidate will be a graduate of an ABA-approved law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas. The ideal candidate will have one to two years of experience either in a county or municipal prosecutor’s office or criminal defense office. The Ford County Attorney’s Office will consider an extremely well-qualified third-year law student or recent graduate who plans to take the Kansas bar examination either in February 2020 or July 2020 or who is eligible for reciprocal admission.
