This important role will be responsible for documenting and closing Virginia Housing's rental housing (multi-family) mortgage loans, loan servicing issues, and general corporate legal work. Our ideal candidate is a results-oriented lawyer with expertise in multifaceted commercial transactions, managing legal risks, and in negotiating complex agreements and financial instruments. You will have a strong interest in leading change to meet organizational goals and the ability to apply legal concepts to meet business objectives and develop practical solutions.Responsibilities will include:
- Documenting and closing multi-family loan transactions on behalf of Virginia Housing.
- Addressing legal aspects of servicing issues (approval of easements, transfers of ownership, loan increases, workouts, foreclosures, owned-project disposition, etc.).
- Advising Virginia Housing on legal issues involving its multi-family lending programs.
- Assisting with general corporate matters.
Qualified candidates must possess a J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Association of Law Schools and an active membership in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.
1–3 years of prior experience in commercial real estate transactions.
Preferred experience includes 1–3 years of prior in-house or law firm experience in drafting multi-family loan closing documents and conducting multi-family loan closings.
