Responsibilities:
James F. Butler & Associates, insurance staff counsel for An Insurance Company, is seeking trial attorneys to join the Long Island NY Claim Litigation office. Selected candidates will join our Bronx North trial team and will be responsible for handling a high-volume caseload from discovery stage through trial. Competitive candidates will demonstrate an exceptional knowledge of civil procedure along with evidence and trial procedures. The selected candidate will possess outstanding research abilities, written and oral advocacy skills, and will be well organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to independently manage a busy time sensitive caseload. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Candidates selected for this position will initially be located in the Jericho office but eventually will be located in our Westchester Satellite office before the end of 2024.

Qualifications:
  • Law degree from ABA accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
  • Active license to practice law in New York and be a member in good standing with the New York state bar
  • 1-10 years of insurance defense litigation/trial experience
  • Experience working in a paperless environment
  • Experience directing support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to lawsuit handling
  • Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation
  • Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the U.S. immediately; employer will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work opportunity.
