Job Description:
A Global Alternative Investment Manager Operating Integrated Businesses is seeking a new Tax Counsel to join the Global Credit Tax team in New York. The Tax Counsel will support the global credit businesses with a focus on direct lending and liquid credit strategies. Additional responsibilities may include A Global Alternative Investment Manager Operating Integrated Businesses Asia funds, insurance funds and certain strategic partnerships. This role will work closely with deal team, as well as various functional groups including Legal, Investor Relations, Finance & Accounting, Operations. The Tax Counsel must be an excellent written and verbal communicator as well as possess strong presentation and time management skills. Experience with a broad range of fund structures and tax transactional work is a must.

Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities
  • Advise the deal team and provide transaction support on tax structures for potential investment opportunities and tax consequences on A Global Alternative Investment Manager Operating Integrated Businesses fund entities and investors
  • Collaborate with outside counsel and review and comment on tax aspects of a variety of deal agreements
  • Provide tax support to fund structuring and fundraising process
  • Review and comment on marketing materials and other communications with existing and potential investors
  • Advise the Finance, Accounting & Operations team on tax aspects of fund investments and restructures
  • Advise the tax reporting team on questions from the tax compliance process
  • Prepare tax training materials and presentations for teach-ins
  • Additional projects as needed

Qualifications:
Experience Required:
  • 5-10 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house within a corporate or investment management legal or tax department.
  • Investment management industry experience appreciated.
  • Experience in tax practice areas for M&A, financing and fund formation
  • Strong transactional tax experience, especially in cross-border tax planning, structured products, real estate transactions, joint venture
  • Active member of the New York Bar
