General Position Summary:

Essential Functions:
  • Research, prepare, and represent clients in deportation proceedings in the Immigration Court.
  • Working with clients on affirmative immigration applications on occasion.
  • Participate in legal clinics, know your rights presentations, and other community education and engagement events.
  • Communicate and collaborate with immigration community navigators and local non-profit legal service providers.
  • Assist with projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Removal Defense Immigration Attorney duties include: Assisting Clients in their defense against deportation, including the filing of asylum/withholding of removal/cancellation of removal/Motions to Change Venue/Prosecutorial Requests/ SIJS predicate orders/USIS affirmative filings (I589, I360, I765).
  • Affirmative Immigration Attorney duties include: Preparing and filing various affirmative immigration forms, including but not limited to Adjustment of Status, Employment Authorization, Citizenship, VAWA, U, & T visas.

Requirements:
Job Specific Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Licensure with the Oregon State Bar or another state bar preferred.
  • Experience in immigration law experience (1+ years required; 5+ years preferred)
  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities.
  • Fluency in another language other than English (Preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and online legal research.
  • Must be able to pass criminal history background check.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; self-starting with a flexible growth mindset is a must!

Knowledge:
  • Education: Law Degree (5)
  • Experience: 1+ years required; 5+ years preferred
  • Licensure, Certification: Juris Doctorate
  • Computers: All positions at A Government Entity require use of a computer and experience working with
  • Microsoft Products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
