Overview:
A Government Entity seeks to fill a Staff Attorney exempt position. The Commission regulates electric, energy efficiency, natural gas, telecommunications, and water utilities in Vermont. Issues decided by the Commission include, among others: siting of utility facilities and non-utility renewable generation facilities; utility rates and other financial matters; and renewable energy, energy efficiency, and telecommunications issues.

This position is currently eligible for telework, but the position may return to working in the office on a full-time basis. This is an exempt position and compensation is in accordance with the State of Vermont Attorney Pay Plan. (https://humanresources.vermont.gov/content/attorney-pay-plan)

Environmental Factors:
Work is performed primarily in a normal office setting.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar, or eligible to waive in AND have at least five (5) years of relevant legal experience, ideally including experience litigating matters at the trial and appellate level.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher.

At least two years of experience in accounting, economic, financial, or technical analysis, business or public administration, permitting, planning, physical science, political science, engineering, public policy, or an environmental or natural resources field.

Graduate work in related fields (including environmental law and policy) may be considered in lieu of experience.
