Job Summary:
Provide advice and counseling on a wide range of employment law related issues.

Assist in managing litigation, government agency investigations, proactive training, and administrative charges.

Partner with the human resources team in addressing the labor and employment needs of A Healthcare Company's various divisions and departments by, among other things, aiding in the interpretation of and compliance with applicable employment-related laws and regulations; handling or assisting in investigation and resolution of internal personnel complaints.?

Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and HR professionals on all aspects of day-to-day employment-related matters, including hiring and termination issues, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour issues, restrictive covenants and their enforcement, and employee investigations.
  • Manage the drafting and revision of correspondence, separation agreements and internal policies, and other employment related documents.
  • Develop, provide, and deliver proactive training to HR professionals and business leaders on a wide variety of employment law matters.
  • Supervise and direct outside counsel in execution of strategies in employment litigation.
  • Be focused and proactive in tracking federal and state laws and regularly update Coworker Services and other appropriate departments with regard to new legislation. Identify trends and plan for risks in the employment area.
  • Provide legal guidance and support regarding leaves under the FMLA and other statutes.
  • Provide employment law support during acquisitions and similar transactions as required.
  • Develop and maintain a complete understanding of company policies and participate in the administration of those policies, and in particular, participating with Human Resources and Compliance in the administration of company policies and handbooks.

Education:
  • Juris Doctor Degree.

Certification / Licensure
  • Member of a state bar in good standing.

Relevant Work Experience
  • At least 6 years of experience providing legal counsel at a law firm or corporation.
