Senior Family Law Associate Attorney ($120,000 - $150,000 + commissions for business development)

A Family, Trusts & Estates & Business Law Firm is looking for a Senior Associate Attorney with a minimum of 8 years of family law experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, exceptional advocacy skills, and a passion for mentoring junior attorneys while providing high-quality legal services to our clients. This is a Junior Partner track position.

The Senior Associate Attorney will be responsible for mentoring and training junior attorneys by:
  • Providing guidance and feedback on legal strategies, case management, and client interactions.
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise through formal training sessions, one-on-one meetings, and collaborative work on cases.
  • Encouraging professional growth and development by identifying learning opportunities, setting performance goals, and offering constructive criticism.
  • Manage a caseload of complex family law matters, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, and negotiations.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and provide strategic legal advice to clients.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to ensure timely and effective case management.
  • Attend continuing legal education programs to stay abreast of changes in family law and maintain professional licensure.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and the legal community.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Bar.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience practicing divorce and family law.
  • Strong litigation and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive trial experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethics, and client service.

  • Excellent customer service skills – A welcoming and polite demeanor is essential to success in this position. Additionally, clients expect prompt responses and follow-up to all correspondences, whether it is by phone or email. It is critical for the Family Law Associate to remain composed even if the client expresses frustration.
  • Superior attention to detail – Precision in work, ability to identify and correct minute errors, and consistency in this work is essential to the Associate Attorney position. In addition, the ability to switch gears with shifting priorities is critical. Given all the moving parts and daily interruptions, it is critical that the Associate Attorney is able to shift his or her attention while still being detail-oriented and focused on quality.
  • Organized and systematic - In an environment with lots of moving pieces, systems are essential, and the ideal candidate would have a firm grasp on the importance of organization and following processes to ensure follow through. Additionally, the Associate Attorney must have an excellent ability to manage multiple on-going projects at various stages of workflow, so superior time-management skills are essential. Further, the ideal candidate must thrive in a high-pressure environment.

  • Strong computer and technology skills - The ideal candidate MUST be comfortable with learning and using software programs daily. Proficiency in Office, Adobe Acrobat, and WestLaw required. Experience with Clio or Monday.com is a plus.
  • Comfort in managing up – In the fast-paced environment of the law firm, the Associate Attorney must manage his or her supervisor in an effort to streamline processes and meet client expectations and deadlines.
