About the role:
An important member of the Legal team responsible for counseling regional business teams on statutory/regulatory obligations, the Senior Counsel, Network advises on provider relationship and contracting strategy, and provides thought leadership to further A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company's success. You will work with A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company's Market P&L Team, and A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company's leadership team.

You will report to the Associate General Counsel.

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office ( in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Ave), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Otherwise, this is a remote / work-from-home role.

Pay Transparency:
The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $192,000 - $252,000 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $172,200 - $226,800 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and distill complex legal issues into easily understandable content so A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company can move corporate objectives forward.
  • Be a subject matter expert on state and federal policy and legislative matters, especially regarding provider contracting, network structure, and affordability programs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on regulatory and industry developments, including proactive identification and assessment of regulatory developments and related risks/opportunities
  • Provide daily legal advice related to A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company's Individual line of business.
  • Be a legal advisor on matters before state and federal regulatory bodies, including product and network filings.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to further the development and continuous improvement of company and legal team processes
  • Serve an important role supporting Insurance market leaders in resolving provider disputes, negotiating contracts with network providers, and structuring value-based provider arrangements.
  • Oversee federal and state regulatory actions and initiatives that affect A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company and the health insurance industry; develop responses to protect A Technology-Driven Health Insurance Company's interests and improve the regulatory climate and report out internally to senior leadership.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Juris doctorate.
  • 10+ years of legal experience in the health insurance industry (including employment with trade associations and state and federal regulators).
  • 10+ years of experience negotiating provider/payor contracts.
