Description:

The Senior Corporate Counsel provides legal advice and strategies to the executive team. Main duties include reviewing and writing various internal legal contracts, negotiating and managing client and vendor contracts and ensuring legal compliance regarding team member safety and mergers and acquisitions. The ideal candidate is a strategic thought leader, anticipating opportunities as well as risks, and can make decisions and accommodate change in both an independent and collaborative manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the legal matters of the business as a whole, including acting as the business' legal representative.
  • Advises executive team on new laws, existing laws and legal rights that impact functionality of the business.
  • Maintains records of all legal documents and proceedings for the company
  • Implements short- and long-term strategies impacting the organization's legal function.
  • Provides legal advice and counsel and represents the organization in legal proceedings.
  • Ensures organizational operations and practices always follow applicable laws and regulations and recommends changes to organizational policies or procedures with the goal of minimizing risk.
  • Stays up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affects the business.
  • Coordinates legal efforts with the organizations outside counsel while managing external legal expenses.
  • Collaborates with other members of the executive management team to align departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the organization.

  • Employment Law / EEOC
  • Trademark / Copyright / IP protection
  • Personal representation in general legal matters

Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Law or J.D. degree and progressively increased responsibilities with prior experience as a General Counsel preferred.
  • Florida Bar member required; Other states are a plus
  • Ability to develop and mentor others.
  • Oral and written communication skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • A strategic thought leader with credibility to advise senior leadership.
  • Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting, but there may be times where you will need to be in operating areas.
