Description:

A well-established Florida insurance defense, insurance regulatory, complex commercial litigation, and business litigation firm, with offices in Sunrise and Tallahassee, is seeking a Senior Attorney with a minimum of five (5) years of First Party Property Insurance Defense Litigation experience, including jury trial experience. This position is in the firm's Sunrise office.

Responsibilities include handling litigated cases on behalf of the firm's clients including, but not limited to, researching legal issues, counseling clients, negotiating the resolution of legal disputes, and appearances in courts in litigated matters to prosecute and defend clients' interests, as follows:
  • Serving as First Chair trial counsel in first-party property litigated matters.
  • Supervising junior attorneys and overseeing a high-volume caseload to ensure cases are effectively prepared for trial.
  • Advising insurance company clients concerning litigation strategies and risk exposures.
  • Interpreting laws, rulings and regulations in client matters.
  • Preparing legal documents on behalf of clients.
  • Providing legal guidance and support to clients regarding prosecuting and defending lawsuits including legal rights and obligations.
  • Researching cases by interviewing witnesses, reading depositions, reviewing evidence and speaking with the client to determine the best strategy for defense.
  • Evaluating findings and developing strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
  • Analyzing the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Attending all pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advising clients following each hearing about the best strategies.
  • Presenting and summarizing cases to judges and juries; planning and presenting arguments and counter-arguments in a court of law.
  • Negotiating settlements.
  • Developing company policy and position on legal issues; researching, anticipating and guarding company against legal risks.
  • Guiding insurance claims managers and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Structuring, drafting and reviewing reports and other legal documents.
  • Maintaining client relationships.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
  • Complying with all legal standards and regulations.
  • Performing administrative and managerial functions related to the practice of law.
