Job Summary: A Non-Profit Law Firm is currently seeking a full-time Ryan White Staff Attorney to join our dedicated team.Under a grant funded by the Ryan White Program, this full-time attorney position provides advice and representation to persons living with HIV/AIDS in Virginia, of every sexual orientation and gender, on all civil legal issues that fall under all areas of practice within LSNV priorities.
This is a hybrid position which can be based at any of our office locations in Virginia, with occasional evening and weekend commitments outside of regular business hours.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts client interviews to address any legal issues and determine level of services to be provided.
- Travels to various LSNV offices, community partner agencies, and outreach events to meet with clients.
- Develops and maintains relationships with other community-based organizations that assist individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
- Presents educational presentations to Ryan White agencies, other community-based organizations, medical and housing case workers, and/or consumers regarding the program and services that are provided to those living with HIV/AIDS.
- Creates brochures, flyers, and other materials to distribute and inform consumers of the program and services.
- Ensures that the program and LSNV services are in compliance with all grant rules and regulations with special attention given to HIPAA requirements.
- Leads grantor reporting process on behalf of LSNV.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed with the Virginia State Bar, or have two years of practice in another state (LAC Rule 1A:9).
- Interest in working with clients of every sexual orientation and gender, living with HIV/AIDS, required.
- Commitment to social justice, racial justice, and/or public interest work, strongly preferred.
- Experience in community engagement and advocacy, strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong litigation experience, preferred.
- Legal aid experience, strongly preferred.
- Multi-lingual (verbal and written), preferred.
