About the Position:
Our Specialty Court Prosecutors are responsible for handling cases on behalf of A Government Entity Attorney's Office in specialty courts and on specialized calendars. Duties include representing the State in probation violation proceedings, including revocation hearings. Prosecutors also represent the state in other post-conviction treatment courts, such as Drug Court. Specialized calendar duties include handling cases where defendants have failed to successfully complete diversion.

We Require
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited and American Bar Association (ABA) approved law school

Other Requirements:
  • Must be admitted to practice law and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona at the time of hire
  • Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire
  • May be required to travel to perform certain work functions

Job Contributions
  • Represent the State in probation violation court hearings and other specialty courts as needed
  • Manage high-volume, fast-paced court calendars
  • Ensure compliance with discovery requirements in probation revocation matters
  • Conduct revocation hearings and other evidentiary hearings as required
  • Handle specialized calendars, particularly cases where defendants have failed to complete diversion programs, including analyzing cases to determine appropriate plea offers, making diversion re-entry decisions, and making sentencing recommendations.
  • Draft appropriate and accurate plea agreements
  • Advocate both orally and in writing on behalf of the State
  • Make oral and written sentencing and disposition recommendations
  • Assist victims in asserting their rights at any hearing
  • Review and respond to motions in felony cases as assigned
  • Properly documents and closes case files in accordance with MCAO policies and procedures
  • Comply with all rules regulating professional responsibility
  • Cover court and other duties as assigned
