Large established Suffolk-based lawfirm seeks seasoned personal injury attorney to join its personal injury department in handling a fast-growing caseload with a heavy NYC presence. The successful candidate will handle cases from inception through trial in the NYC Metropolitan Area and occasionally in the upstate counties. We need an attorney who excels in both litigation and people skills to ensure that our clients get excellent results, excellent client service and an excellent client experience.

Personal Injury Attorney
Job Duties:
  • Give telephone advice to injured legal plan members to protect their legal rights and to qualify potential cases.
  • Meet with clients both in and out of the office for intakes.
  • Gather evidence to prosecute claims including investigating accident scenes, obtaining photographs and interviewing witnesses.
  • Must keep frequent client contact to update the client on case status and to make sure information in the client's file is complete and up to date.
  • Prepare cases for pre-litigation settlement.
  • Legal analysis of facts and the law to develop winning strategies for maximizing case value and obtaining successful case outcomes.
  • Negotiate with adjusters and defense attorneys.
  • Draft pleadings, motions and discovery documents.
  • Argue motions and appear for court conferences.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties and non-party witnesses.
  • Handle mediations and arbitrations including preparation of ADR packages.
  • Conduct jury selections and trials.
  • Must utilize the firm's case management system in reviewing files, entering file notes and in assigning tasks to support staff.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a practicing personal injury attorney.
  • Must have trial experience.
  • Juris Doctor Degree plus NYS bar admission. Federal Bar admission and experience is a plus.
