About This Opportunity:
A Global Medical Device Company is seeking a mid-level attorney to join its Litigation Group as Litigation Counsel. The Litigation Group is responsible for handling and assisting all litigation and arbitration matters for A Global Medical Device Company including commercial litigation, antitrust litigation, product liability litigation, intellectual property litigation, and third-party subpoenas and investigations. Reporting to the Director of Litigation, this position is responsible for proactively and effectively managing a diverse range of litigation and pre-litigation matters in a range of substantive areas and jurisdictions. To be successful, you will need to understand the difference in working as an in-house litigator and law firm litigator. In addition, this position must have experience in managing outside counsel spend, alternative fee arrangements, selection of outside counsel, and in-house tools and technologies to enable efficient, economical review of documents to respond to discovery, subpoenas and for internal investigations, litigation hold, spend management.

In this role, you will…
  • Assist in the pro-active management and supervision of all A Global Medical Device Company's outside litigation counsel, including staffing, litigation strategy, work product, budgets, and managing spend.
  • Work closely with company employees to represent A Global Medical Device Company and its affiliates from commercial claims, government and regulatory investigations, securities claims, and intellectual property assertions.
  • Assist in all facets of litigation, including internal investigations, discovery, witness identification and preparation, revising legal briefs, development and execution of case and trial strategy, and negotiating and drafting settlements.
  • Manage a diverse range of litigation and pre-litigation matters in a wide range of practice areas throughout the jurisdictions in which the company does business.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise reports regarding the status of each piece of litigation and the associated risks.
  • Provide strategic direction on existing litigation and disputes that could lead to litigation.
  • Assist in developing litigation strategies to achieve business objectives, as well as creative approaches to resolving disputes, and to ensure goal alignment across various business teams.
  • Investigate and respond to various commercial, employment, insurance coverage, privacy, customer relations and business claims and complaints that could lead to litigation.
  • Advise business partners to proactively address and resolve potential disputes while supporting the company's business objectives.
  • Provide advice and training on matters relating to litigation and litigation avoidance, including assessing the risks of potential litigation.
  • Work with other legal team members to develop and implement scalable systems and procedures for the consistent handling of the company's litigation, discovery, and avoidance of claims.

In this role, you'll need …
  • 4 + years of litigation experience reflecting a strong record of success and accomplishment, with a law firm, in-house law department and/or federal law enforcement or regulatory agency.
  • Bachelor's degree plus Juris Doctor required.
  • Experience litigating in federal court is essential.
  • Experience in securities, antitrust, commercial disputes preferred.
  • Experience in managing discovery including document preservation and collection, written discovery, and witness preparation.
  • Strong legal editing, writing and analytical skills.
  • Organizational and management skills that will assist in the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines to facilitate the effective development and oversight of individual litigation matters.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to ensure that all deadlines are met on time and with a high degree of quality.
  • The ability to be persuasive while ensuring a positive customer and/or partner experience.
