A Manufacturing Company has an excellent opportunity for Legal Counsel to join our team in Cypress, CA. This individual will report to Senior Counsel and will work to advise executive management with respect to a wide variety of significant legal, regulatory and compliance issues.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Offer legal counsel to business unit management on various aspects of the company's consumer and commercial lending activities, including product development, marketing, underwriting, contract management, marketing agreements, and servicing operations, including loss mitigation, dealer issues, collections, and bankruptcy.
  • Review and aid in the negotiation of contractual documents such as statements of work, master service agreements, partnership agreements, supplier/vendor contracts, funding transactions, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Support the ongoing development and implementation of the Company's Compliance Management System (CMS), which involves conducting business process reviews to assess compliance with consumer credit laws and regulations and developing practices and procedures to ensure compliance with these laws.
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining the qualifications and licenses required to support the Company's nationwide business and facilitate regulatory agency examinations.
  • Oversee litigation matters and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to ensure alignment on strategy, budget, and staffing.
  • Provide guidance on the formulation of policies and procedures applicable to enterprise operations and businesses. Additionally, assist in internal corporate governance responsibilities.
  • Provide legal guidance & support by:
    • Evaluating the various inputs and impacts of decisions.
    • Strategically anticipating issues and estimating risks.
    • Identifying proactive solutions to eliminate or mitigate risks.
    • Making decisions based on ethical and integrity standards.
  • Cultivate trust and mutual respect within crucial stakeholder connections.
  • Engage in ongoing legal research to remain current on statutory and regulatory adjustments impacting the company.
  • Foster cooperative partnerships with and oversee external legal counsel, which includes the management of designated litigation cases.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as delegated.

What you'll need to be successful:
  • JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in California.
  • While 8-10 years' experience is valued, we welcome candidates with a range of experience levels.
  • In-house experience and/or treasury/capital experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional oral, written and presentation communication skills, ideally with experience in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on management style with the ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and oversee multiple, sometimes competing tasks.
  • Proficiency in developing, negotiating, implementing, and managing complex service provider and other corporate relationships.
