Description:

New Jersey House Counsel is hiring a current law student for its 2023-2024 Law Clerk Program. The law clerk will be responsible for assisting New Jersey House Counsel attorneys with various assignments in a number of practices areas, including personal injury, employment law, directors and officers cases, and subrogation.

Specific duties will include performing legal research; drafting briefs, motions, and memoranda; assisting with pre-trial discovery; and handling other legal projects as needed. The law clerk will also be able to observe real proceedings, including oral arguments, trials, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.

The right candidate would be bright, hardworking, detail oriented, ambitious, and eager to learn. Prior legal experience is helpful, but we will train someone who has everything we want.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited law school program and must have completed at least one year prior to start date
  • Availability to work 35-40 hours per week in Summer (late May 2023 through August 2023) and 8-16 hours per week during the school year
  • Ability to work on-site in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, in accordance with the firm's hybrid schedule
  • Strong academic background
  • Superior research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to balance multiple assignments and various deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Westlaw
