We provide a full range of services to our clients across 18 service areas. A Law Firm that Guiding Insurance Companies and Their Insureds is looking to expand its Insurance Coverage practice group. We are a firm in growth mode, and we are looking for attorneys interested in growing with us. We offer an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant and supportive family-friendly team.Job responsibilities include analysis of insurance policies and application of contractual wording to claim facts in the areas of general liability (torts), construction defect, products liability, environmental, employment practices, first party (automotive and homeowners), professional liability, and more. Ability to pinpoint issues and research the law in multiple jurisdictions is crucial, as is the desire and ability to analyze complex fact patterns and generate clear, concise written work product. The successful candidate will be expected to generate detailed reports, opinion letters, and correspondence, as well as litigation work product (pleadings and motions, discovery, and appeals), largely in the area of declaratory judgment practice. Approximately 25 percent of the successful candidate's work will relate to direct defense of underlying tort cases, primarily premises liability and automotive. The candidate will have opportunities to appear at case management conferences, mediations, pre-trial settlement conferences, and depositions.
The successful candidate must be a well-organized self-starter and able to manage tasks and deadlines independently, while keeping key stakeholders informed of case status. Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in New York State and Federal Courts
- 3 - 5 years of litigation experience, including some substantive involvement with insurance coverage issues
- Some familiarity with federal practice is preferred
- Superior communication, writing, and research skills
- Prepare opinion letters, reports, and substantive correspondence
- Draft motions, discovery demands and responses
- Handle court appearances and depositions
- Communicate with clients and provide status reports
