Immigration Attorneys focuses its practice on immigration law and provides services to clients in Tennessee and throughout the Tri-State area. Our immigration lawyers offer comprehensive legal services in many areas of immigration, including Removal Proceedings before the Immigration Court and EOIR, family -based immigration, permanent residency, naturalization and citizenship, DACA, TPS and a variety of other immigration-related areas.

Immigration Attorneys is located in Downtown Memphis, in the same building as the Memphis USCIS and the Immigration Court. We are searching for an Attorney to be trained in family and court-based immigration. This position is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or attorneys looking for an opportunity to develop expertise in the immigration field.

Job Duties include:
  • Representing individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court in Memphis (EOIR.)
  • Appearing with individuals before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for family-based matters, as well as for adjustment of status and naturalization interviews.
  • Preparing asylum applications and appearing with individuals at the Asylum Office for asylum interviews
  • Handling client meetings and consultations
  • Draft briefs, motions, affidavits, letters, responses to requests for evidence/notices of intent to deny
  • Meet deadlines (must have strong organizational skills)
  • Manage a large caseload
  • Comply with all legal and ethical standards, maintaining good standing with all Bar Associations
  • Able to work outside normal office hours as needed according to caseload

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare filings.
  • Manage various projects and meet deadlines.
  • Negotiate, prepare, and revise documents.
  • Explain legal contracts to clients.
  • Research legislative changes that may affect immigration.
  • Develop solutions to complex legal questions.
  • Draft briefs and motions.
  • Appear before USCIS for family-based interviews, adjustment of status and naturalization
  • Prepare and regularly represent clients before the EOIR Memphis Immigration Court.

Requirements:
  • JD degree (Internship or at least 1 year of work experience in immigration field is preferred)
  • Active Bar license (in a good standing) or waiting to take the Bar Exam.
  • Have excellent research and writing skills
  • Relocation to Memphis, TN is necessary (no relocation reimbursement)
  • Spanish (both written and spoken) preferred
  • Must be a team player
