Position Summary: A Nonprofit Law Firm seeks a full-time Staff Attorney to work in the Greensboro Office, which provides free legal assistance in civil matters to low-income clients in Davidson, Guilford, Montgomery, Randolph, Rockingham, and Rowan counties. The ideal candidate will be dedicated and passionate about serving LANC's clients and will have a current license to practice law in North Carolina or eligible for admission, or eligible to take the next bar exam.

Job Description: The Staff Attorney will:
  • Provide direct legal services to clients.
  • Handle a broad variety of tasks that facilitate the team's mission of effective, high quality legal services in landlord-tenant law that complies with LANC priorities.
  • Devise strategies for resolving client legal matters.
  • Provide community education and outreach in impacted communities.
  • Represent A Nonprofit Law Firm in the community served by engaging with the legal community.
  • Have opportunities for participation and leadership in the North Carolina Bar Association and other local bar associations.
  • Coordinate with the Managing attorney to provide information requested by funders.

Qualifications: Candidates applying for this position should have the following qualifications:
  • A passion to serve low-income clients.
  • A commitment to the mission and values of A Nonprofit Law Firm.
  • A commitment to, appreciation for and understanding of organizational values around diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • A juris doctorate and a license to practice law in the State of North Carolina or eligible to take the next bar exam. For unlicensed candidates, employment will be contingent on admission to the bar.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Prior legal services experience is a plus.
  • No pending North Carolina State Bar disciplinary proceedings.
  • Self-motivated with the proven ability to set goals and meet self-imposed and external deadlines.
