About the role:The General Counsel plays a key role on the best team in the industry! The General Counsel reports to the CFO and will provide legal guidance on all company matters, including contracts, corporate governance, M&A, compliance, and all other obligations of the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Develop legal strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
- Prepares and reviews various legal instruments and documents, such as contracts, leases, and licenses.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements and maintain accurate records of corporate activities.
- Examines material, such as advertisements, publications, etc., for legal implications and advises officials of proposed legislation or regulatory rulemaking that might affect the organization.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and provide solutions to mitigate such risks.
- Oversee intellectual property portfolio with the assistance of outside counsel.
- Advise on labor and employment issues.
- Manage external legal resources and represent the company in legal proceedings as required.
Education, Experience, & Other Qualifications:
- Requires completion of law school with an LLB degree or JD degree and admission to the bar.
- 8 – 10 years of Professional legal experience, with a strong background in business and contract law
- Structured mindset, highly organized, great diligence, initiative-taker, and enthusiastic about building and scaling a business.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to predict and prevent legal issues and risks.
- Strong moral and ethical principles
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills
