A Non-Profit Law Firm is a non-profit law firm serving the Durham community. We have income-based fees to make legal justice more accessible to everyone in our community. We are currently seeking an experienced Family Law attorney to join our team on a contract basis.

Contractor status is not necessarily permanent — attorneys who are successful in their position may be offered employee status..

Responsibilities:

Represent clients in legal proceedings related to child support, custody, legal separation, paternity, and protection orders and other matters
Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on matters related to family law
Draft legal documents, including pleadings and motions
Negotiate with opposing counsel to reach settlement agreements when possible
Work closely with clients to develop legal strategies that meet their unique circumstances and goals
Manage client relationships and expectations.

Requirements:

Active NC bar membership in good standing
At least 3 years of experience practicing law
Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
