Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing support in commercial and employment litigation matters by developing strategy, assisting with discovery, and managing outside counsel.
  • Providing guidance to Human Resources on various matters, including wage and hour compliance, reasonable accommodations, and employee relations.
  • Researching and assessing various legal issues, leading or assisting with internal investigations, and responding to pre-litigation demands and disputes.
  • Developing and executing special projects, including policy review, revision, adoption and training, and the development, monitoring and improvement of departmental processes to increase efficiency of routine legal procedures.
  • Advising the business regarding large-scale company initiatives, including without limitation organizational development, incentive programs, and other employee benefits.
  • Assisting in research and analysis of proposed or implemented laws and regulations affecting the business.
  • Reviewing pleadings, motions, and other documents.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate is keenly interested in litigation strategy and employment matters, has strong analytical and communication skills (written and oral), and develops strong, positive relationships with internal clients by demonstrating initiative and business acumen and delivering timely, well thought out, creative solution-oriented advice and recommendations.

In order to take on these challenges, you'll need to have:
  • A four-year college or university degree
  • A juris doctor degree
  • Must have passed California state bar exam and be a licensed attorney in good standing
  • Requires a minimum of two to seven years working experience as a lawyer in business and/or legal environment, with at least two years of experience in civil litigation, employment litigation, or employment advice and counsel.

Knowledge and Skills Include:
  • Strong understanding of necessary legal concepts to perform the job
  • Ability to work effectively and in a timely manner with internal business clients
  • Business acumen and understanding of business pressures and goals
  • Ability to analysis, interpret and synthesis correctly various foreign, federal and state laws, rules and regulations
  • High level of professionalism in dealing with all matters, especially confidential and sensitive issues
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a project team
  • Being self-motivated
  • Ability to manage high volume of work and prioritize effectively, meet numerous deadlines and repeatedly shift between projects

  • Solid class action experience, including consumer litigation and wage and hour litigation
  • The ability to think with a business and legal mindset
  • The ability to evaluate risk and offer business-oriented solutions and mitigation tactics

  • The ability to offer legal advice for the purpose of helping the businesses achieve their growth plans
  • The ability to meet deadlines in a challenging, fast-paced work environment
