Employment Counsel

Opportunity:
A Technology Company is looking for an Employment Counsel to join our Award-Winning team of innovators that strives to deliver a positive and engaging employee experience! In this role you will be a strategic partner with our HR team and senior leaders, providing legal oversight, practical solutions, and leadership regarding Labor and Employment for A Technology Company' approximately 18,000 employees spanning the globe. You will report to A Technology Company Chief Legal Officer.

Location is flexible – preferred location is on the east coast

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Be a strategic thinker, self-starter, and capable of building amicable relationships across business units.
  • Guide the business on critical issues including diversity and inclusion, preventing harassment, and pay equity.
  • Advise on investigations, employee dispute resolution program, and risks arising from employment law matters such as hiring, discipline, termination, severance, accommodations, leave, workplace violence response, and wage and hour compliance.
  • Manage training, compliance, policies, practices, employment agreements and compensation plans.
  • Oversee outside counsel and insurance reporting on employment matters.
  • Partner with A Technology Company Safety group on Worker's Compensation matters.
  • Maintain relevant employment matter data and provide appropriate reports to leadership and business partners.

What Required Skills You'll Bring
  • JD from an accredited University and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
  • Extensive international experience advising business clients on complex, disputes, projects, issues, and transactions.
  • Expertise in national employment law and knowledgeable about international employment law, including experience with labor unions, mass terminations,
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication, and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and able to handle and prioritize numerous projects with a hands-on, results oriented approach.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring
  • Knowledgeable concerning SOX Compliance, USERRA, WARN, ESOP and ERISA.
  • Experience with government contractors.
  • Understanding of international employment law including in Europe, the Middle East and Canada.
  • Familiar with background checks (FCRA), Mental Health and Drug Testing and Treatment, Prevailing Wage, I9s, PTO, ERPs and CBAs.
  • Working knowledge of Origami, Workday, Teams, and SharePoint.
